N1968T 1968-05-06 Letter from Thurston Aircraft Corporation, Sanford, Maine, to FAA, Aircraft Registration Branch ((AC-250), Oklahoma:

Gentlemen:

This company is an aircraft manufacturer currently completing the prototype Model TSC-1A TEAL Amphibiban. This program has been designated FAA Project No. 1CA1821EA.

Inasmuch as we anticipate production at an annual rate exceeding 100 aircraft per year by June 1969, we would appreciate having a block of numbers ending in "T" set aside for our aircraft. Since we need a registration number at once for our experimental airplane, possibly this could be from the same block. Would you please forward the initial number without delay, as we must apply for our radio license and airplane insurance.

Thanking you for your interest in this matter, we remain

Very truly yours,
THURSTON AIRCRAFT CORPORATION
Signed
David B. Thurston
President

1968-05-15 Letter from FAA (AC Form 1131) to Thurston Aircraft Corporation:

[x] a. We have tentatively reserved special registration number(s): N1968T.

REMARKS:

Hi David;
I have reserved N1968 T for your experimental plane and you should submit all paper work under this number when you get your type certificate and in production we will send you some I.B.M. assignment cards but they probably wont be (T) letters unless you would request them and then that would be a $10.00 fee per number. We will furnish the amount of cards you think you will use in a 18 month period.

1968-08-07 Letter from Thurston Aircraft Corporation to FAA, Supervisory Inspector Henry G. Smith:

REFERENCE: Application for Airworthiness Certificate for Thurston Aircraft Model TSC-1A TEAL Amphibian

Dear Mr. Smith:

Attached hereto is our application for an amendment to the experimental airworthiness certificate for our aircraft Model TSC-1A TEAL Amphibian. The amendment is to request expanded operating limits since we now have in excess of ten hours flight time. The aircraft has been found to be controllable throughout its normal range of speeds and throughout all maneuvers conducted. The aircraft has not demonstrated any hazardous operating characteristics or features.

In view of the above, this company hereby requests that consideration be given to the extension of the operating limits to include the continental United States.

Since a flutter vibration survey has been tentatively scheduled at Zahn's Airport, Amityville, New York for the morning of Saturday, August 17, we would very much appreciate your earliest attention to this request.

Respectfully submitted,
THURSTON AIRCRAFT CORPORATION
