I
used to own N914NS, a 1966 SIAI-Marchetti FM-333
“Riviera”, # 0108.
I took it in for an annual in Jun 1980 .
Inter-granular corrosion was found in the left main wing spar and
fuselage center section spar. It was to be too expensive to
repair. It was donated to Chaffey College in Pomona, Calif. As a
result of it’s being un-airworthy / too expensive to fix. They
in turn gave it to Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif. where it
now sits (pretty much destroyed).
I owned it for 6 yrs and put about 1300 hours on
it. A fantastic airplane to fly. Swelly or rough water wasn’t that
much fun. Smooth or Lake water was a dream come true.
What a great, beautiful airplane!
