Simpson (Lax Kw'alaams), British Columbia: 54° 36' N / 130° 23' W Pilot failed to discontinue take-off, when taking off from sea east of Port Simpson. He failed to maintain flying speed. Aircraft struck several small trees and two larger trees and settled down along the trunk of the last large tree and burst into flames. Aircraft was destroyed by fire. Injuries: Pilot Ernie Leder - killed, passenger George Lionel Dudoward - killed, passenger Lloyd Dudoward - seriously injured, passenger Lawrence Ralph Pollard - seriously injured. The three passengers were Canadian-Indian. [Canadian CAR File # 5002-1442]. |
